Understanding Window & Door Hurricane Product Approvals: DETAILS!
These aren’t just for the installer. Architects, builders, and most importantly—clients—need to understand what they’re getting.
Windows and doors aren’t just a budget line item like the concrete shell. They’re a critical aesthetic decision that clients interact with every day. And the details make all the difference:
How wide are the tracks/head/jambs? Wider than your beams or columns?
How tall is the sill riser? What are the pressure-specific options?
How deep is the recess? Will it create a trip hazard above finished flooring?
Are there different frame options? (High vs. low bottom rail)
What do the glass stops look like? Ogee, square, or default—and does it need to be specified?
How many tracks/panels are tested? Want 5 panels? You might only be allowed 3 or 4.
Will anchors be exposed inside the tracks or jambs?
These details affect performance, cost, and visual impact—and most people won’t notice them until it’s too late.
Details Matter!
