When Window Design Goes Wrong: Why Alternate Layouts Must Be Reviewed
Don’t let the window supplier decide how they’re going to fill in an opening… at least I hope this layout wasn’t on the plans. This is from a multi-million dollar home on Miami Beach, and I still see window design choices like this far too often.
When you need a large operable window but want clean sightlines, there are smarter options than dropping in a small sliding unit with chunky frames. You can lower the handle height on a cut-down slider or use a large horizontal roller window that better fits the space. It may cost more — but it preserves the architectural intent and provides a much more elegant result.
The key is reviewing these layouts before the window order is placed. Design performance and aesthetics should never be left to the default configuration.
Another home in Boca Raton, this should have been big glass for that view!
