This is a Lack of Planning and Coordination
If you see this, it’s WRONG.
This is what happens when critical glazing/finish alignments aren’t addressed in preconstruction planning.
Just 2 inches of difference between structural and architectural drawings can result in this kind of misalignment — and I see it all the time.
Once the stucco band and window head don’t line up, the design intent is gone. And fixing it? Impossible.
Here’s why it matters:
1. Visual misalignments immediately cheapen a luxury design.
2. Structure can’t be changed after the finishes are going in — it’s too late.
3. This alignment falls on the GC 90% of the time, not the window company, not the roofer, not the shell guy, not the soffit installer.
The second image shows the right way — every frame, soffit, and finish coordinated in advance so the architectural vision is realized cleanly.
This doesn’t happen in the field — it happens months earlier in preconstruction, with a coordinated plan tying structure, glazing, and finishes together.
