Hurricane Product Approvals

If your window manufacturer says they are hurricane resistant but does NOT have a registered Florida Product Approval (FPA) or Miami-Dade NOA, NO, DO NOT TRUST THEM. This is the only trusted and certified process for independent laboratory testing of hurricane-rated windows and doors.

TAS 201, 202, 203 — the Florida Building Code standards for Impact, Static, and Cyclic Wind Pressure testing — are the highest standard in the industry. There are multiple ASTM standards for hurricane testing, but they are all lower or much less rigorous than the TAS testing protocols.

Anyone can verify a product by checking the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation website. Just look up the manufacturer to confirm if they have a current listing and what the product was actually tested for:
